Saffron:
An orange-yellow flavouring, food colouring, and dye made from the dried stigmas of an autumn flowering crocus with reddish-purple flowers. Enormous numbers of flowers are required to produce a small quantity of the large red stigmas used for the expensive spice.

Saffron recently sang at the prestigious Ellington Jazz Club in Perth WA. She received such a warm welcoming during her debut show that she has been asked back for her next show on September 13 (8:30pm start) in a few short weeks.

Renae Coles a current contemporary artist in Perth WA designed Saffron's logo as seen to the bottom left of the main page. Saffron is delighted to report that Renae is also designing the cover for her upcoming CD.

Saffron has been influenced heavily by the breathy and earthy tones of trumpet player Miles Davis. From much transcribing, her scat syllables have been shaped by his 'pff' sounding onset of tone and her solos can mimic Davis' heavy use of developing melodic ideas.
